Clayton Church Homes celebrated our inaugural ‘Founders Day’ on Friday, 28 April 2023. The event not only recognised our history and the dedication of the people who established CCH, but more importantly how our current staff and volunteers recommit each day to the original vision and spirit of the people of the Clayton Wesley Uniting Church community.
The development of our original aged care hostel in April 1968 at Beulah Park was led by Mr Jack Sinclair and Reverend Sydney Munn, and was supported by the first CCH Board and Church leaders such as Peg Huxtable, Rev. Allan Shepard and Elizabeth Finnigan. It was the responsibility of Matron Doris Wren to lead our first team of staff and volunteers.
Greg Adey, the Board Chair, concluded the event with Rev. Syd Munn’s exhortation of the CCH spirit of continual renewal – “ ‘Step out of the past, go forward into new ways’. If we do that, we’ll always keep the legacy of our Founders active and contemporary”.
